Web Design & Development:
A Decade of Technical Evolution
I began my web development journey over ten years ago, evolving alongside the medium itself. This long-term perspective allows me to understand not just how the web works today, but the fundamental architecture of how information is organized and consumed.
-
Platform Versatility: My experience ranges from legacy community platforms like Dolphin, vBulletin, and Joomla to modern, enterprise-level systems like WordPress and Drupal.
-
Technical Fluency: I am highly adaptable to diverse web interfaces and taxonomies, with a foundational understanding of HTML and CSS, as well as what I would consider ‘lite’ SQL.
-
Proprietary Systems: Beyond open-source tools, I am experienced in navigating and customizing proprietary CMS platforms to meet specific organizational needs.
Full-Stack Project Management
For ten years, I served as a Project Manager at Rare Pixel Design, where I acted as the bridge between technical execution and client vision.
-
End-to-End Solutions: I managed the entire lifecycle of web and web-app development, including high-complexity eCommerce solutions.
-
Stakeholder Relationships: I coordinated directly with hosting providers, lead developers, and customer representatives to ensure every digital product was stable, scalable, and user-friendly.
-
Capacity Building: My role extended beyond the “launch,” as I specialized in training employees on site management and providing long-term customer support.
Innovation Spotlight: AI Implementation
At the University of Denver, I assisted in the implementation and deployment of Ocelot AI, a sophisticated AI agent designed to revolutionize the user journey.
-
Enhanced User Experience: By feeding the AI agent specific institutional data, we provided users with a real-time chat experience that delivered answers instantly.
-
Operational Efficiency: This deployment significantly reduced incoming emails and phone calls, allowing prospective and new employees to find critical information with unprecedented speed even during non-business hours.
Philosophy: The User-Centric Window
I believe a website is far more than a collection of data; it is a window into the user experience. It is a space where we can intentionally curate what a visitor feels, learns, and achieves. By focusing on intuitive navigation and accessible design, I ensure that the digital architecture I build serves as an inviting and efficient gateway to the organization.
Web development is something I do for fun nowadays, as well as to complement my work whenever needed. Prior to academia I was a web developer and project manager. Below is a video I designed over a decade ago showcasing websites I developed at the time. Since then I have expanded my experience greatly and continue to learn new technologies and methods.
